Spicy Tofu


For blog hoppers Wednesday ,i m paired with Radhika. She has really got a variety of recipes and creativity  in her blog out of which i have chosen this.I went through her bog so many times and so many recipes got into my eyes. I was so confused which should i take and which i  leave.Each one of them  are soo good.Every one know that how famous she is with her blog.She has made spicy paneer and instead of paneer i put tofu.It turned out very tasty.








 
When people go vegetarian or vegan, they're happy to discover that tofu is one of the most versatile protein rich foods. Tofu is a very good source of soy protein and iron. Tofu is nutrient dense & high calorie. One serving is 2 - 4 oz, or a 2" square piece, which makes it an economical protein source.







Tofu absorbs colors and flavors extremely well, can assume a range of textures, and blends easily with just about any other food. You can use tofu in many recipes that kids and non-vegetarians will happily eat.
Tofu can be soft and crumbly, for tofu scrambles, tofu sloppy joes . It becomes firm and crisp when marinated and fried or baked.
Tofu is convenient, filling, and a great source of protein - but if you don't like it or can't eat it, don't worry. Tofu isn't the only way to get enough protien in your vegetarian diet. Tofu is also very good for heart patients who cannot eat panner cos it is high in cholestrol.


Ingredients
                  A:

Tofu                         -250 gms
Ginger                     -1inch piece
Garlic                      -4cloves
Greenchillies            -3no
Soy sauce               -1tbsp
Chilly pwd              -11/2tsp
Vinegar                  -11/2tsp
Corn flour              -3tbsp
salt                        -1/2 tsp

For the sauce:
onions                -2
Greenchillies       -8
Capsicum           -1
Ginger                -1inch(chopped)
Garlic                 -6 cloves(chopped)
Spring Onions     -3stalks
Tomato sauce      -3tbsp
Chilly sauce         -3tbsp
Vinegar               -1tbsp
Soy sauce           -1 1/2tbsp
Sugar                  -1/2tsp
Corn flour           -1tbsp
oil                       -4tbsp
Salt to taste

For the marination:
Grind green chillies,ginger and garlic to fine paste.Transfer to the bowl and along with that add the rest of the  A ingredients to it and mix well.Leave it for 1/2 an hour.

Method

In a pan,add2 tbsp of oil and shallow fry the tofu's all the sides till golden brown.Remove and keep aside.




Now for the sauce:

Heat the remaining oil and add the finely chopped ginger and garlic.Saute for a while and add the onions,spring onions and slit green chillies to it.Saute until theyrsoft.Next add the capsicum and saute for 1 min. Now add the fried tofu's and toss well.Combine and mix well the tomato sauce,soy sauce,chilly sauce,vinegar,sugar and salt .now the sauce is ready.



Add this mixer to the pan and cook till the tofu's r well coated. Now dissolve the corn flour in 1 cup of water and add to it.cook till it thickens.Last but not the least Garnish with spring onions/cream according to ur wish.
